According to the study of the company Choice, the PlayStation 3 from Sony Corp, closely followed by Microsoft's Xbox 360 and plasma television screens, are the most consumed in a list of 16 appliances tested and that includes computers laptops, sound and DVD players.
"Our tests found that leaving a PlayStation 3 on while not in use (...) cost almost five times more than they require to run a refrigerator for the same period of time," says the study, published in the Choice website (
www.choice.com.au ).
"Another device is greedy plasma screen, which consumes about four times more energy than a traditional analog equipment. The computer desktop is the third in the list," he said.
The report advised consumers to turn off their electronic devices in the computer itself and not with the remote control The left in standby mode and consume energy.
